Hubs and I ate lunch here while on vacation. I felt a little under dressed for this place in bathing suits and cover-ups, but looking around that's what everyone else was pretty much rocking. I think that it could get dressier at dinner time. The tables are covered in white linens and there are plenty of tables along the windows with views of the beach and ocean. Upstairs is a big bar with even more floor to ceiling windows (we peeked around and took some photos while we were up there using the restrooms even though the bar was closed up). They have an outdoor patio and bar on the main level which was busy that afternoon as well. For a beach side lunch, it was a bit pricey, but not overly so. That being said, the portions were HUGE so really it was worth it. Hubs got the Grouper sandwich with fries and I got the Grouper (sans bread) with these amazing skinny, crispy shoestring onion straws. Both were $16. We did not care for the fries; they were definitely house made though with a very thick breading. The fish, however, was more than delicious! Everything was fresh, service was on point, and hubs enjoyed a couple of great cocktails from the bar as well. Dining with a view and fresh grouper never misses in my book! The ambiance was just a bit formal for the location and time of day, but again I'm sure that it transitions nicely in the evening. Great spot to catch a fresh catch (see what I did there?) while not wandering too far from your beach chairs!

Elephant Walk is in a perfect location near the beach part of the Sandestin Resort. I went for a business function. As a vegetarian, I was unfortunately met with a menu that caters to the seafood-lovers (there were no vegetarian options or anything that could have the meat removed from it). Nevertheless, I politely asked if there were vegetarian options. Fortunately, they said they could provide a 'vegetarian plate' which is whatever the chef wants to cook that night. This sounded like it could have great potential, and given that I was in a business group, I was happy to oblige and keep things simple. Unfortunately, we all received a wedge salad which had bacon bits covering the plate. The entree arrived and was a vegetable pasta. It was barely edible. It included red peppers, mushrooms, a few artichokes, and large slices of celery. Really? Celery? The celery was also slightly fibrous. The red sauce that it came in was particularly tart and either was from a jar or simply unseasoned. I've eaten throw-away vegetarian dishes. This was the bottom 10% of such meals. For dessert, I had a taste of a local peach cobbler that was outstanding. It was quite a bit sweeter than I typically enjoy but the combination of the cooked-down peaches and the vanilla ice cream was delightful. Everyone else at my table seemed to very much enjoy their fish dish. For other vegetarians who are at Sandestin Resort, I'd encourage you not even to entertain the idea of eating here. Vegetarians simply are not a population they care to cater to. For non-vegetarians, this place is in a good location right on the beach within the resort and probably is worth a look.

My SO, cousin, and cousin's wife came here for lunch immediately after the Sandestin Triathlon. My cousin ate a large portion of the free post-race food, so wasn't too hungry, but enjoyed a beer instead. The other three of us ate a fantastic meal. My cousin's wife immediately ordered the spinach artichoke dip, which came with fried pita for dipping. It was pretty good, but needed more cheese and garlic in my opinion. She then ordered the wedge salad, which came with a lot of fixins that looked pretty good. My SO ordered the crabcakes, which came with more crabmeat on top and garlic mashed potatoes. The cakes were delicious, well seasoned and full of crab. I got the burger, which came with homemade sauce and on a sourdough bun. And I got the shoestring onion rings with it. The onion rings were heaven in my mouth and everyone else's! They were fantastic! Awesome batter, awesome seasoning, and crispy like they should be. If I ever go back, I might just get the onion rings. The only downfall was the burger "had" to be cooked medium well. I prefer medium rare, but apparently there is something in the burger blend they use that has to be cooked to medium well.

Not impressed with the food (or prices) at all! The service was great, they pour a generous glass of wine but after that.. I had ceaser salad as a starter and it was fine, then had the "special" entree-grouper with crawfish. It was seriously lacking in crawfish and it was covered in an overwhelming sauce that distracted from the fish, even after my attempts to scrape most of the sauce off. You can't beat the convenience to the hilton and the ambience is nice but I don't recommend the food or at least what I ordered...

I could not be HAPPIER that the owner of Sandestin re-opened Elephant Walk! I wish I was still living there so I could go experience the food, amazing amazing, amazing staff with unbeatable views of the gulf. This is a slice of heaven with a slice of heaven view and food to match. You can't go wrong with eating here anytime. Take a deep breath, order a drink, relax and enjoy the moment here. I can't wait to go back.

My wife & I will be celebrating our 1 year anniversary in March. We got married on the beautiful Sandestin Golf & Beach Resort. We had our rehearsal dinner at the Elephant Walk. The staff was professional; food & presentation was outstanding; sunset was perfect as perfect can be. So, besides my wedding day, this was a memorable day to remember. Thank you Elephant Walk for making it perfect. So for your next group outing or romantic evening, call the Elephant Walk

We used to go to The Elephant Walk back in the 1990's and it was a good restaurant with great food and good service, now not so much. First of all the place looks drab and dark and care worn. They have not updated the place since my daughter was 11years old, she is 34 now. It just seemed a little grungy. I ordered the Grouper Elizabeth. While it was tasty it was a little cool from waiting around for my husbands dish to be prepared. My husband ordered pork that was fried in grease that was not hot enough and it was unreadable and had to be sent back. Everything is a la carte and pricy. With all the other great restaurants now on 98 and 30a I will never waste my money there again. I gave it 2 stars because our waiter, Pittman was a good server and I feel bad for him that he works in such a dark and drab place.

The fried grouper sandwich and fries were delicious. The fries were battered in some sort of deliciousness. Not sure what it was. The servers were really nice and accommodating. The beers on tap were local and good. The crab cakes were just so-so. I probably wouldn't order those again.

I agree with Alex and Liza. We walked about 10 yards down the beach from San Destin Hilton, and had a glorious view of the beach, sunset and dinner on the deck. Service and food were excellent. Crab cakes, wedge salad and Mahi Mahi were very good.

Read my entire review before taking my 2 star rating to heart: For starters, I am in the service industry as a bartender/manager. My family also owns a restaurant that has been successful for 2 decades now. Now, Elephant Walk happens to be right next to the condo my girlfriend and I are staying in, and as people that love great food, had caught wind of it being a good restaurant to go to. So of course we had to try it. The location is outstanding (right on the beach and a 3-4 minute walk from most of the condos) and the ambience of the restaurant sets a great mood. Unfortunately we had either a new server or a server that just didn't know any better. We were sat in a section with 4 other tables and we're left sitting there for about 10 minutes before being greeted by our server, Billy, eventually billy greets us and gives us waters. I asked for a coke and my girlfriend inquired about any specialty cocktails they may have. His answer was less than informative, so we continue and order an appetizer. 10 more minutes pass and I finally get my Coke and are presented with a specialty cocktail menu. We order a round of beverages and he doesn't ID either of us (mind blowing as we are both 25, and clearly look like a fairly young couple). Anyway, about 15 more minutes go by and we get our beverages, and unfortunately Billy rang in the wrong drink for myself, so I got an unbelievably watered down and over minted regular mojito (ordered some form of specialty mojito that was supposed to be flavored). I try to muster up the politeness and not complain at this point and just drink it, but it was terrible- I still stay quiet about it. 15 minutes later, our entrees arrive. Yes, we ordered an appetizer. Our appetizer was never rang in by Billy. And didn't even notice until I mentioned that he could cancel our appetizer order since our food was already here. No big deal, it happens. So the good part of our dinner was the food was outrageously good. Entrees, a la carte sides, etc. were all outstanding. My only quirk with my meal, that I will mention is that I don't understand why the Cold Water Lobster Tail entree is fried? Don't get me wrong it was absolutely great, but I personally would have gone a different route. Continuing on, we eat, I run out of coke, and never got anymore. Billy mentions something about desserts, and we were stuffed so we politely decline. Billy asks if my mojito was good seeing as I've had probably 3 sips of it, and I politely tell him what was wrong and he takes it off of my check. Cool okay. The fact of the matter is, I've felt like I had awful service the entire time I was in there. All in all, the service was horrendous, food was great, wish I had gotten to taste the appetizer we had ordered, and despite the bad service, the service industry in me still left a 20% tip on my $100+ tab. Did he deserve it? Definitely not. But if he had given us great or even good service, he would have gotten closer to a 30-50% tip. More importantly, the restaurant as a whole should be concerned with their employees being trained better otherwise more of these situations will occur and unfortunately will cause them to lose business! And as good as the food and location is, I'd hate to see that happen. Hope this is informative for other guests!
